Un-veiling Bronze Plaque
Grand Finale of Bridge Project
The Cowichan Estuary bridge project was finalized on September 19, 2015 by unveiling the Bronze Plaque located at the new bridge across the breach of the Cowichan causeway. This has been the last step leading to the successful completion of one of CERCA's major projects in 2015. The plaque explains the rationale for breaching the artificial dyke that had cut the Cowichan Estuary in half for more than 60 years and honors the financial support of different agencies. Neither dignitaries nor the general public had been invited to take part in this event in view of the earlier official opening of the bridge and the ribbon cutting which took place in March 2015 and which had drawn a large crowd of people.
Un-veiling the bronze plaque mounted on a solid granite rock was a joyous moment for our participating members who wanted to experience the completion of this important project.
