Fund-raising Dinner and Art Auction

A Highly Successful Event

This widely advertised fund-raiser, organized and implemented by CERCA and Island Savings, took place on October 9, 2015 at the Arbutus Ridge Golf Club. Judging by the positive feedback  received from many participants it  has been a great success. The "Thank you" note by Lynn Tetarenko, Assistant Vice President, Financial Planning & Advice of Island Savings, says it all:What an evening!  I would definitely say the inaugural CERCA gala fundraiser was a huge success and I was absolutely thrilled to be part of it!

  • The décor of the room was simple elegance and let the art speak for themselves.

  • The food was absolutely delicious and the varied menu satisfied everyone.

  • The slide show and especially the video was inspiring and I hope made more of the gala guests wants to get involved.

  • Will Millar – wow, it is difficult to describe what he brought to the evening in terms of entertainment, atmosphere and originality.  The guests absolutely loved him and I have had “Green alligators … unicorn” in my head all weekend!

I was fortunate to bring 4 pieces home and we have already hung two of them! Thank you for welcoming me and Island Savings to be part of the event.  I look forward to next year! All the best, LynnThe number of invited guests -more than 100- exceeded our expectations. It was a very harmonic, fun and all around enjoyable evening with a very festive atmosphere created by CERCA's organizing Committee under Beate Weber-Schuerholz' capable leadership. The musical entertainment by Will Millar and Michael Creber, an acclaimed Grammy nominated pianist, substantially contributed to the event's success. The Arbutus Ridge Golf Club Banquet Room venue proved to be well chosen providing a great ambience with spectacular views of the Golf Islands. The art auction, a Highlight of the evening, was superbly handled by Will Millar who proved to be a very funny and witty auctioneer. We take this opportunity to express our deep gratitude to the volunteers who had worked hard to make this a success, to Dinter Nursery for greening-up the banquet room, to the local artists and others who donated a superb collection of original art objects, and last not least to our valued guests for taking part in this event. This fund-raising dinner was in support of CERCA's proposed Cowichan Estuary Open-Air Classroom Nature Trail, and the Salmon Smolt Monitoring Projects planned for 2016. On behalf of CERCA I like to thank you all for this evening.Goetz Schuerholz (Chair)
