Mariners Island Garbage Clean-Up

Following our successful log removal project in March a team of CERCA volunteers descended on Mariners Island to pick up the leftover trash that the removal of the logs revealed. This included everything from plastics, to styrofoam chunks, to car tires. Over a half a dozen truck loads were removed from the site creating a safer, less toxic habitat for the wildlife that calls the Estuary home. We'd like to thank Shawnigan Lake School for their group of volunteers that assisted in the removal of small trash, and the CERCA volunteers that came in behind to remove all the big stuff.
