Youth Ambassador Summer Program includes CERCA

I am pleased to announce that CERCA has been invited by First West Credit Union to participate in the "Island Savings Youth Ambassador Program". Chris Waddel, Community Relations Specialist of Island Savings and Coordinator of this initiative, explains the program as follows:

This is a new community program aligned with Island Savings corporate social vision to provide both learning and leadership opportunities for our staff in the communities we serve. Through the program  our Youth Ambassador employees will learn more about the community’s needs and provide valuable in-kind support to help your organization (CERCA) make a difference. The program also provides our youngest employees with the opportunity to share what they have learned with their peers and the community to help raise awareness of the important work that your organization provides.

This internship program provides CERCA with two Youth Ambassadors for two days each week during the months of July and August. All time served by the Youth Ambassadors will be paid for by First West Credit Union. CERCA is delighted about this opportunity to not only familiarize two well connected community youths with our mission, vision and projects but also for the two youth to develop a better understanding and appreciation of environmental issues. Most important, it is hoped that the two candidates will develop ownership in recognizing the need for sustainable land- and resource use and   responsible environmental management that is of growing importance in the light of climate change and globalization.

CERCA is grateful to Island Savings, our major sponsor of the current nature trail project, to let CERCA participate in this exciting program.
