On Friday the 9th of January 2014 the Municipality of North Cowichan  posted the "no discharge of firearms" sign at the trail-head next to Blackley's farm along Cowichan Bay road. Hopefully the sign will stop waterfowl hunting in  the northern part of the Cowichan estuary, a contentious issue heavily debated for the past year, ever since the discrepancy between the BC hunting regulations and Bylaw 3077 were discovered in late 2013.
