Drone Survey — Mariners Island

In March 2023, CERCA surveyed Mariners Island using drones, revealing several hundred stranded logs dating back seven years (since CERCA’s major clean-up in 2016). Believed to originate from log booms for the Western Forest Products Mill, removal discussions with WFP yielded no concrete results. In 2024, another survey by CERCA member Adrian Fletcher outlined a method for log removal, estimating approximately 500 saw logs needing extraction from the salt marsh.
