On-going Projects
Micro-Plastics Project Phase II:
Processing of sediment and bio-samples by Dr. Zeinab at Simon Fraser University for both the Cowichan and Komoks Esturies are in final stages. Phase II to be completed in 2024.
Citizen Science Project Forage Fish Monitoring:
Bill Heath spearheading the MABBRI project involving students from Cowichan Secondary School and possibly Shawnigan Lake College.
Citizen Science Project Light Trap Dungeness crab larvae monitoring:
Bill Heath spearheading the HAKAI project.
Citizen Science Project Bat Monitoring:

Lobbying for:
o Ecological Corridor of south-facing slope of Mt. Tzouhalem
o Salt Marsh rehabilitation initiatives
Lobbying against:
o inter-tidal log-boom storage
o light pollution in the estuary
o industrial effluent discharge into estuary
